Rebirth of The Griot

Rebirth of The Griot was born in the mind of storyteller and facilitator Sola Story and expressed in a meeting to community organiser James Bee (Buzzin Bee). We
shared a recognition of the ancestral importance of African storytelling. We also acknowledged that there was not a regular storytelling event in London.
Our shared visualisation compelled us to start Rebirth of The Griot in July 2018. We launched our first storytelling showcase at Uptown Cuisine in Tottenham courtesy of its owner Jeffrey Simon.
Rebirth of the Griot is now a CIC. It has returned to our original aims to put young African Heritage young people at the heart of our drive to bring communities together. This is based on facilitated intergenerational conversations using inspirational creative art. We will work with local schools and African Heritage families to provide developmental opportunities for young/children people in London, especially Haringey. Our quarterly events (combination of storytelling & spoken word) provide supportive opportunities for them to practice their developing skills of storytelling, creative writing, confidence and stage presence.

On the 30th August
